Child Evangelism Fellowship

Local Missions - Child Evangelism Fellowship

We heartily recommend that churches consider the opportunities for evangelistic outreach in their local communities. Too often the emphasis is solely on foreign missions. We support and thank God for those who have answered the call to go and have dedicated their lives to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world; however, we see a lack of interest in local missions. An urgent mission field is just outside our front doors. To support missions in China and Russia, but to have no burden for the lost we come in contact with everyday is hypocrisy. We hear much about going to the mission field but most Christians consider this impossible because their minds are focused on foreign missions alone; oblivious to the fact we live on a mission field. Churches have lost their vision regarding the need in the local community. People are perishing all around us. We are called to be salt and light to the world, and this begins at home and in the local community in which we live and work. In Acts 1:8 Jesus said they would receive power to witness first in Jerusalem, their home, and then go out to spread the Gospel abroad. God establishes churches in local towns, cities and communities for the purpose of equipping those who have been saved to continue to be a witness to the people they see every day. We are to be a continual light burning for others to see our lives. People will see our consistent lifestyle as a reflection of Christ, not just a religious life played out on Sunday morning and the rest of the week a different life manifested that contradicts the Christian faith. We are living epistles. Are we honest and ethical? Do we show care and concern for others? Are we respectful? Do we dress appropriately? How do our children behave? Do we live a life of holiness separated from this sinful world’s influence? Our life is a testimony of who we are as followers of Christ.

For the past two years, we have worked with Child Evangelism Fellowship. CEF is a Bible-centered, worldwide organization that trains and equips Christians to share the Gospel with boys and girls in local public schools. Lesson plans are provided to make sharing the Gospel easy and to teach sound Biblical moral principles, equipping the children to live above the immorality that permeates our society. Preliminary contact and permission to go into the schools is secured by CEF. This outreach is a tremendous blessing and opportunity for both the children and the workers. Pray and consider if God would have you give one hour a week that can make the difference in a child’s life for eternity. Who knows, a child you share Christ with may become a great soul winner because you answered the call to be a light in darkness.

Child Evangelism Fellowship® is a Bible-centered, worldwide organization composed of born-again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, disciple them in the Word of God and establish them in a Bible believing church for Christian living.

Note From the President For almost 70 years God has been using Child Evangelism Fellowship to bring the love of Jesus Christ to children around the world. The Word of God puts a high priority on children. They are near to God's heart and we believe that He is uniquely concerned about their spiritual welfare. Without the foundation of a relationship with God and training in Biblical principles for life they are unequipped to face what life will throw at them.

With workers in more than 150 countries around the world CEF® has personal, individual ministry with more than 6 million children each year. God has given us a passion to not only bring children into a right relationship with God, but to disciple them in His Word and establish them in Bible teaching churches so that they can become mature in their faith.

I am convinced that there is no work that is more pertinent or effective. Perhaps God is leading you to become more involved in the lives of children, for His kingdom's sake.

CEF is here to train, equip, and encourage you as you follow that leading. I trust that this web site will be a rich resource for you and that God will use you in a tremendous way to make an eternal difference in the lives of boys and girls.

For the children,
Reese R. Kauffman

Outpost
Ministries

Outpost Ministries is a mission we support in Guatemala. Members have been there several times helping with building construction. Living Word Assembly supports children each year to attend the school. They have a newsletter they send out regularly. Below is a sample of an article mentioning Living Word Assembly. To see the complete newsletter and others as they become available click on the PDF associated to the newsletter.

Excerpt from Outpost Ministries January 2008 Newsletter:

Team Three from Living Word Assembly and from Minnesota:
With the second school year right around the corner, Colegio Cristiano Pixabaj stands ready to welcome over 130 new students thanks to the hard work accomplished by three teams over the past two months. Our most recent team was made up of a group from Living Word Assembly in Virginia and two couples from Minnesota. With only a week to get the second level to a point where three classes would be available in January, the teams worked hard all day, sometimes even during the night, to get the work done. After finishing the roof and the scaffolding, the team got right to work on the stucco, drywall, insulation, installing the doors, rough electrical and building the railing. Their work put us over the top and has ensured us the space for next year’s students. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us during the recent three weeks of construction and we look forward to finishing the project in February 2008.
